How to cancel UPI AutoPay

Stop a UPI AutoPay mandate on Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM or your bank's app, so a cancelled subscription can't take money again.

Open the UPI app you set the AutoPay up in, find AutoPay (sometimes called Mandates), choose the mandate and tap Cancel or Revoke, then confirm with your UPI PIN. Cancelling the subscription with the service doesn't always remove the mandate, so do both.

Google Pay

  1. Open Google Pay and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Autopay.
  3. Choose the mandate you want to stop.
  4. Tap Cancel autopay and confirm with your UPI PIN.

PhonePe

  1. Open PhonePe and tap your profile picture.
  2. Under Payment management, tap Autopay.
  3. Choose the mandate.
  4. Tap Cancel (or Pause, to stop it for a while) and confirm with your UPI PIN.

Paytm

  1. Open Paytm and tap your profile picture.
  2. Open UPI & Payment Settings, then Automatic Payments.
  3. Choose the mandate.
  4. Tap Cancel and confirm with your UPI PIN.

BHIM and bank apps

  1. Open the app and look for Mandates or UPI AutoPay (often under the UPI or Payments menu).
  2. Choose the mandate.
  3. Tap Revoke and confirm with your UPI PIN.

Good to know

  • A mandate shows the maximum it can take and how often. If the service raised its price above that limit, it has to ask you again.
  • Menus move between app versions. If you can't find AutoPay, search the app's settings for "autopay" or "mandate".
  • Can't find a mandate that's still charging you? Ask your bank: they can see every mandate on your account.
