How to cancel ChatGPT Plus
Cancel your ChatGPT Plus subscription in 4 steps, stop the next charge, and what happens to your access.
You cancel ChatGPT Plus on its own account page (chatgpt.com), in 4 steps. If you pay through the App Store or Google Play, cancel there instead. You normally keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
Cancel ChatGPT Plus, step by step
- Open ChatGPT on the web and click your profile.
- Go to Settings, then Account (or Subscription).
- Select Manage, then Cancel plan.
- If you subscribed in the iPhone app, cancel in Apple subscriptions instead.

Subscribed through the App Store or Google Play?
Then ChatGPT Plus can't cancel it for you: the store bills you, so you cancel there.
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → ChatGPT Plus → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Google Play → your profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → ChatGPT Plus → Cancel subscription.
Paid with UPI AutoPay?
Cancelling stops ChatGPT Plus renewing, but the AutoPay mandate can stay in your UPI app. Revoke it so nothing is taken by mistake:
- Open the UPI app you used (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or your bank's app).
- Find AutoPay (often under your profile or settings, sometimes called Mandates).
- Choose the ChatGPT Plus mandate, tap Cancel or Revoke, and confirm with your UPI PIN.
A cancellation email you can copy
If ChatGPT Plus's page won't let you cancel, send this to their support through their help page or chat:
Subject: Please cancel my ChatGPT Plus subscription Hello, Please cancel my ChatGPT Plus subscription on the account registered to this email address, with effect from the end of the current billing period, and confirm by email. Please do not renew or charge me again. Thank you.
Questions
Will I get a refund if I cancel ChatGPT Plus?
Usually not for the period you've already paid for: you keep access until it ends. Some services refund on request in the first few days; ask ChatGPT Plus's support if you were charged by mistake.
Does deleting the ChatGPT Plus app cancel it?
No. Deleting an app never cancels a subscription. Cancel on the account page, or in the App Store or Google Play if you subscribed there.
How do I stop ChatGPT Plus charging me again?
Cancel using the steps above, then check your next statement. If you set up UPI AutoPay, revoke the mandate in your UPI app too.
